If you’ve been waiting for food prices to come down, you’re going to want to spend a lot of time at Snead’s Farm this summer.
At the Snead’s Farm roadside stand this summer, prices on many of our most popular items are coming down. Containers of tomatoes, plums, peaches, eggs, blackberries, raspberries, okra, grapes, pears and apples that sold for $6 per container last year will sell for $5 this year. This is a 16.66% decrease in prices, and reflects Farmer Emmett Snead’s view that the broader economy is ripe for deflation in many areas.
The produce stand will open for summer hours starting on Wednesday, June 18. From that day through Labor Day, we will be open 9am to 6pm daily. You may stop and purchase produce at our roadside stand, or pay admission to come visit the farm, play in our creek, enjoy our Mountain Slides, take a cool walk through our shady Pine Tree Maze, let kids loose in our sand pile, playhouse and other kid-friendly areas. Farm admission is $7 per person, ages 2 and under free. Dogs on leash are welcome.
Stay tuned to this website and our social media feeds for information on summer crops like corn and melons as they come in. This week at the stand, we have:
- free-range eggs
- raspberries
- purple plums
- tomatoes
- blackberries
- peaches (may be a limited supply)
We also offer cut-your-own sunflowers at $0.50 per stem (or 3 for $1). This is a 50% reduction from last year’s price.
