All members pick up the fall box on Wednesday, Oct. 7, at Snead’s Farm, from 9 a.m. until 6 p.m.
Thank you for your support this year. CSA members help keep Snead’s Farm and other family-owned farms in the Fredericksburg region operating. This year we have had to adapt in many ways, as a result of both the Covid-19 pandemic and one of the worst growing seasons we’ve faced in a while. With ice in May, a drought in June and July and a flood in August, many of our crops were either lost or saw much lower yields than is typical. We have worked hard over this season to source local eggs, honey and produce for our members. We thank you for your support, and want to remind you that Oct. 7 is the last day to sign up for the 2021 CSA at a 10% discount. You can find all of the CSA information here.
On Oct. 7, we are closing the farm to the general public, in order to welcome you to a day of fun for CSA members only. We will have staff at the gate to check off members names (you do not pay admission). This is to ensure that we do not get non-members coming to the farm so that we can keep crowds manageable to promote social distancing. Please bring a mask with you to wear when you are unable to distance from other parties.
In the list of box contents, please note that some of our vendors have specific times when their products will be available. These are artisan products, and the time slots reflect the setup time they need to produce their goods. Also–please note that pick-your-own pumpkins, sunflowers and hayrides are all available in the back field this year. Waffles, cider and kettle corn will be in the food court near the house. We have included a map of the farm at the bottom of this message to help you locate everything. We have worked with the area health department on this year’s farm layout to try to keep people as safe and distanced as possible.

Cooking Ideas
- Apples:
- Homemade applesauce
- One skillet apples and chicken
- Apple crostata
- Healthy apple crisp (also a great breakfast)
- Pizza:
- Find a video for the pizza kit here.
- You will have leftover pizza herbs. Save these – you can sprinkle them on frozen pizza to liven it up. If you make your own dough at home, try adding herbs to the flour before you add liquid for a more aromatic pizza dough.
- Fried green tomatoes
