Kitchen Ideas
- Turnips and carrots both have a nice crunch when eaten raw. Shredding them for a cole-slaw style salad could provide a nice summer side.
- Last week we enjoyed our summer squash in lasagna. This recipe is a good start. Lately I much prefer cottage cheese to ricotta in lasagna.
- If you’re looking for an alternative to vinaigrette for those salad greens, I also like this tahini dressing recipe. Would be great with the cucumbers, as well.

Kitchen Ideas
- Your turnip and radish greens can be washed and sautéed for use in a quiche, lasagna, quesadilla…you name it. It’s best to cut the greens from the roots as soon as you get them home, as this will prevent the radishes and turnips from going soft too quickly.
- Kale (and turnip greens) makes a great spanakopita.
- French breakfast radishes are oblong and have a pretty pink at the tip that fades to white. A very French way to serve them is to wash them and serve raw (maybe slice in half lengthwise) with good softened butter and sea salt for dipping.
- Use your turnips, radishes and their greens in one easy side dish with this roasted turnips and radishes recipe.
- Lots of eggs + summer berry season = time to make pound cake.

- If turnips are a tough sell in your house, try these roasted turnips with bacon and goat cheese.
- Crepes are a go-to breakfast in our house, and they use more eggs than pancakes. I use this Julia Child recipe. These would be great with apple butter.
- Radishes make a great topping for fish tacos.

Kitchen Ideas
- Don’t let asparagus season end without trying Food52’s absurdly addictive asparagus.
- Crunchy parmesan sugar snap peas would make a kid-friendly side dish.
- Air fryer kale chips disappear in minutes in my kitchen. They also make a great soup topper. Use the recipe or simply follow the directions for kale in your air fryer instruction manual. I like to add a small amount of oil and a seasoning salt.

- This snap pea salad with lemon vinaigrette would pack up well for a weekday lunch.
- This is likely to be the last week of asparagus. Celebrate the transition from spring to summer with this asparagus pesto pasta.

Kitchen Ideas
- Lemon honey garlic asparagus would make a nice side dish.
- Honey is a nice addition to a homemade vinaigrette, which would complement Idlewood’s fresh greens nicely. Include chopped roasted asparagus in your salad, and top with a poached egg.
- When asparagus is this abundant, it’s nice to save some. A great way to do that is in soup form. This asparagus soup with lemon includes instructions on freezing (note that you don’t want to add the parmesan until you are reheating the soup).
- Bacon-wrapped asparagus makes a nice addition to a Mother’s Day brunch.
