November is a great time to visit Snead’s Farm. Starting Nov. 1, our hours will be 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily. Admission will be $5 per person. We are closed on Nov. 6 for a private event, and Nov. 25 for Thanksgiving, but we are open every other day in November. Please note that we will be closing the farm to new entrants at 4 p.m. in an effort to control crowds.

Thursday, Nov. 11, is Veterans Day, and we will hold another one of our Military Appreciation specials. We will be open normal hours, and all active and retired military and their families will get in for $2 admission. We will hold another Military Appreciation Day on Dec. 5.

Many of you are already asking about Christmas trees. We do have trees this year. We have blue spruces of up to 9 feet tall for $95 apiece (including tax). We will only be cutting trees this year from one very specific field where we have some older (and taller) trees. Please make sure you are in the right field before cutting. Fields will have signs that indicate whether it is OK to cut trees. The management of our fields is an important part of our sustainable farming practices–it’s crop rotation. By clearing this field of trees in December, we’ll be able to harvest delicious heirloom “superstar” cantaloupe from it in the summer. **Please note that the $5 admission fee also applies to those visiting the farm to choose and purchase a Christmas tree.**

We know many people are hearing stories in the media about the great supply-chain crisis and the possibility that holiday gifts may not arrive on time. We have an antidote to that. Our 2022 CSA makes a great holiday gift. You don’t have to worry about shipping, and at a time when food prices are on the rise, its price tag remains steady. Consider gifting your family farm-fresh produce in 2022! Learn more here.
