CSA Week 5: What’s in the box?

UPDATE: Due to the cool weather forecast for this week, the plumcots and plums will not be ripe by Wednesday. We have cancelled pick-your-own plums and plumcots for Wednesday, and expect them to be ready for Sunday picking. Thank you!

The picture above is a spring peach blossom. Peaches are coming along excellently now, and we are anticipating a bumper crop this year for our late-summer CSA boxes. That will be appreciated, because we just bid farewell to the worst asparagus crop we can remember. We usually like to give our CSA members much more asparagus than you got this year. But the hot temperatures in April and May pushed the season to start two weeks early. Then, when the crop should have been peaking, the plants went to seed, leaving us with far less asparagus than we’ve had in any recent year. We thank you for being on this farming journey with us. No two years are ever the same.
